1. Gayo Coffee.

Gayo coffee grows in Gayo land, Aceh. Situated in the hills around Takengon city near Lake Tawar, this area produces coffee known for its rich taste, thanks to the fertile soil. Gayo Coffee received Fair Trade Certification from the International Fair Trade Coffee Organization in 2010. Initially, its name faced patent issues with a Dutch company, Holland Coffee. However, community efforts led to officially recognizing Gayo as a single-origin coffee.

2. Java Preanger Coffee.

Also known as Malabar or Priangan coffee, Java Preanger was the first coffee imported by the Dutch to Indonesia. Initially planted in Jakarta, it later thrived in the Priangan region of West Java. The name “Preanger” derives from “Priangan,” the term used by the Dutch at the time.

3. Mandailing Coffee.

Mandailing coffee grows in Mandailing Natal Regency, nestled in the Bukit Barisan mountains of North Sumatra. A type of Arabica coffee, its cultivation dates back to the 1800s under the Dutch East Indies government’s forced cultivation system.

4. Bali Kintamani Coffee.

With its worldwide appeal, Bali produces coffee primarily in Kintamani, Bangli Regency. Farmers here follow the traditional Subak Abian system, rooted in Hindu philosophy. This practice emphasizes harmony with nature, resulting in organic coffee.

5. Sidikalang Coffee.

Cultivated in the mountainous Dairi Regency of North Sumatra, Sidikalang coffee is renowned among single-origin enthusiasts. A variety of Arabica coffee traces its roots to the typical variety introduced by the Dutch.

6. Wamena Papuan Coffee.

Wamena Papuan Coffee

Wamena Papuan coffee hails from plantations along the Baliem Valley, east of Mount Jayawijaya in Papua. Its mild taste and low level of addiction make it ideal for first-time coffee drinkers. Its aroma carries the essence of fragrant flowers.

7. Toraja Coffee.

Toraja Coffee

Toraja coffee, grown in Toraja land plantations, is known for its relatively high acidity. Farmers process the harvest using traditional wet milling processes, known as damp hulling or semi-wet.

8. Flores Bajawa Coffee.

Flores Bajawa Coffee

They are cultivated in Bajwa, Ngada Regency, East Nusa Tenggara, and Flores. Bajawa coffee benefits from the region’s volcanic ash-rich andosol soil. This variety of Arabica coffee offers an authentic taste and aroma.
